Course Overview

The UEE30425 Certificate III in Data and Voice Communications provides the foundational skills and knowledge required to work in Australia’s telecommunications and data cabling industries. This nationally recognised qualification is designed for individuals seeking to become licensed cablers, capable of installing, maintaining, and repairing voice and data communication systems across a variety of environments.

Throughout this course, you will learn how to safely and effectively install structured cabling, including fibre optics and coaxial systems, while ensuring compliance with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) standards. You’ll gain hands-on experience using the latest tools and technologies, and develop the skills required to troubleshoot, test, and maintain systems used in modern residential and commercial networks.

This qualification also meets the training requirements for Open Cabler Registration, with options to add endorsements such as Structured Cabling, Optical Fibre, and Coaxial Cabling.

Units of Study

To be awarded the Certificate III in Data and Voice Communications, 23 units must be completed consisting of:

  • 16 core units
  • 7 elective units
UEE30420 Units

You may be able to complete your qualification sooner through formal recognition of your existing skills. This is known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

To receive RPL, we assess your previous work, education and life experiences against recognised qualifications. Applications for RPL can be made prior to enrolling.

If the RPL application is successful, you will be given credits towards your course (meaning you may not have to complete all the units to gain this qualification).
